Energy-wise ways

The above chart shows how we use energy in our daily lives. Why is a energy-wise way of living necessary? We are spending energy faster than nature can reproduce it, and in the process, we are also releasing harmful chemicals into the air. Here are some tips on how to live an energy-wise way of life.

v    Save air-conditioning: us fans, open windows when the temperature drops to let the house cool.

v    Set the thermostat on your water no higher than 140o F if you have a dishwasher.

v    When you wash pots and pans by hand, use a sink stopper instead of running hot water.

v    A dishwasher uses about 15 gallons of hot water. Use it only when you have a full load.

v    Don’t let water taps leak. One drop per second wastes up to seven gallons a day.

v    Fill the basin with hot water when washing or shaving. Letting the water run will use more.

v    Install a low-flow shower head to get a good shower with less water.
