When buying new appliances, what aspects do you consider? You probably consider the rate, brand, size and features. But, we all forget one important aspect of any appliance - its efficiency rating, because the efficiency rating is not only important because it tells you how much energy the appliance will save, but also the amount of money it will cost you to maintain it during the life of its durability.
Most appliances will cost more in lifetime energy consumption than their purchase price.
Here are some tips as what to consider when buying appliances:

Check the
energy efficiency rating (EER) when buying new appliances.
Buy only the
features you need.
When buying a
space heater, check for safety, stability and quiet operation. Get a heater with
a tip- over safety switch and a signal light to show you when it’s
on.
A typical 1500
watt heater costs about 11 cents an hour at the average U.S. electric rate of
7.4 cents per KWH.
Energy-saving
thermostats run by a clock-timer or a computer can save energy by automatically
adjusting heating and cooling.
