is on, turn down the thermostat to 68o F during the day and 55o
F at night unless you have a heat pump. If you own a heat pump vary the setting
no more that 3-5o F to heat efficiently.
Check with
your local utility company before turning down your thermostat with seniors,
small children or sick people at home.
Turn off TV,
lights and radios when not in use.

Air
conditioning thermostat should be set to 80o F- 80o F
Close off
unoccupied rooms.
Don’t block
heating vents, radiators or registers with furniture or clutter. Keep them
clean.

close drapes at night and let the sun in during the.
Lighting one
100-watt bulb produces more light than two 60-watt bulbs.
Fluorescent
lighting in kitchens and bathrooms gives more light for less energy. A 40-watt
fluorescent tube produces more light than a 100-watt bulb at half the energy
cost.
